The patented box-node construction ensures a uniformly distributed transmission of force in the top and bottom belts and thus increases the torsional stiffness of the overall ladder set. This increases the step-through width to 54 cm on the top part of the ladder section. Thanks to the large rung gap, the ladder set can also be climbed without rung over rung. This is an important technical detail if the response personnel have to lean the cage against a window or a balcony. Especially in these sort of operational situations rung alignment is rarely achieved. With Metz aerial ladders, the drive speed is proportionally regulated via an intuitive opposite-steering of the joystick.
