Rosenbauer Panther 6x6 to be Featured in Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon Motion Picture

|
Wyoming, MN - June 28, 2011 - Rosenbauer America is pleased to announce that a Panther 6x6 Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting vehicle has been cast in Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon as the character "Sentinel Prime" a predecessor to "Optimus Prime." "Sentinel Prime" is an "Autobot" and plays a major character role in the movie being released June 29. Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon is the third in the series of Transformers films by director Michael Bay.
Rosenbauer licensed its Panther vehicle design and trademark to Hasbro for the movie filming and toy production. Rosenbauer maintains ownership of the actual Panther vehicle used as "Sentinel Prime" in the production of the film. Toy reproductions of "Sentinel Prime" hit store shelves in mid-May. Hasbro estimated that 300 million units could be sold.

Steve Reedy, General Manager of Rosenbauer America's ARFF division, based in Wyoming, Minnesota signed on to the project in March 2010.

"Marty Huffman, one of my regional sales managers, actually took the call from Michael Bay's production assistant. Marty was so excited about the opportunity that he agreed to their proposal, which included spending thousands of dollars to repaint the Panther, before he asked me if it was okay," said Reedy.

Aircraft Firefighting Rescue vehicles (ARFF) by FAA regulations must adhere to a strict color paint scheme which didn't appeal to Director Michael Bay.

"Bay Films had very specific ideas about how the truck was to look and we got her repainted, changed light colors and tinted the windows REALLY dark," said Huffman.

Rosenbauer is making the "Sentinel Prime" vehicle available for special events. The vehicle will be on display at the Mueller Family theater in White Bear Lake on July 1. Talks are under way with the Mall of America to display the vehicle.

Rosenbauer America produces completed ARFF units and rolling chassis in Wyoming, MN. Rosenbauer's partner company in Leonding, Austria builds ARFF units on chassis produced at the Minnesota plant. The roof mounted turret was produced in Fremont, Nebraska by the Rosenbauer Aerials Division.
