Report: No Fire Walls To Block Townhome Fire
Two People Were Treated For Smoke Inhalation
The Cause Of The Fire Is Under Investigation
MIAMI LAKES (CBS4) ― A lack of fire walls in a Miami Lakes townhouse allowed a weekend fire in one unit to spread rapidly early Sunday morning to three other neighboring units.
The fire, which destroyed one residence and severely damaged the three others, has left four families homeless.
More than 150 Miami Dade firefighters were called out to battle the massive fire at the townhouse located in the 19-thousand block of West Lake Drive.
"We were asleep when we heard something, and then my wife told me it smells like something is burning" said a resident of one of the units that went up in flames.
The first fire crews to arrive the scene immediately called for back up when they saw walls of flames engulfing the building. In the end it took firefighters from 38 trucks and support vehicles two hours to put out the flames.
